Erbil, Baghdad continue talks on 2021-2023 Iraqi budget

<p style="text-align: left;">Talks between the Kurdistan Region Negotiating Committee and Iraqi central government officials in Baghdad continue on drafting the 2021-2023 budget and the Kurdish region's share of the budget.

&ldquo;The Kurdistan Region delegation attends the process to pass the Iraqi Public Budget Bill for 2021 to 2023, Zagros Fallah, Deputy Minister of Kurdistan Regional Planning and Budget Ministry and a member of the Kurdistan Region Negotiation Board in Baghdad, said about the new round of talks with Iraqi central government officials on the region&rsquo;s budget and the problems between Erbil and Baghdad, emphasizing on the need for a political agreement with Baghdad in this regard.

He stated that the aim of the Kurdistan Region in these talks is to stabilize the share of the region&rsquo;s budget in the Iraqi public budget in the coming years, and said that the delegation should discuss with the relevant ministries in the Iraqi government the amount of the region&rsquo;s revenue and its share in the state budget and stressed that this basis determines the different needs of the Iraqi provinces and the Kurdistan region.

He also said that the region&rsquo;s delegation had informed the Iraqi government officials that in order to determine the share of the region&rsquo;s budget from the Iraqi general budget, a political agreement was needed between Erbil and Baghdad on oil, border and port revenues and taxes.
