Nechirvan Barzani says Erbil backs Iraqi PM al-Kadhimi

<p style="text-align:left">The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, expressed his support for the Prime Minister of Iraq at a meeting with the representatives of the EU member states in the region and emphasized that the region is willing to solve the problems with the central government within the framework of the constitution.

Barzani met on Wednesday, September 16, with representatives of EU member states in the region in the presence of his deputies and the head of the Kurdistan Regional Government's foreign relations body.
In this meeting, the head of the region will provide explanations about the general situation in the region, Erbil-Baghdad relations and ongoing talks between the two sides to resolve differences and problems, Iraq relations with neighboring countries, threats facing Iraq and the autonomous region, ways to deal with the coronavirus outbreak, fighting the threat of the ISIS, overcoming the difficult economic situation and implementing reforms in the Kurdistan region.
The Kurdish president praised EU assistance to the region and Iraq in the fight against the ISIS, the refugees housed in the region camps and its aid in the fight against Coronavirus, as well as it's help to ease reforming process in the Kurdish region.
While announcing the Kurdistan Region's support for the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Barzani stressed that the region is determined to resolve all disputes and problems with the central government within the framework of the constitution, so that the rights and privileges of the region are protected in accordance with the Iraqi constitution.
Barzani considered the resolution of these disputes and the participation of all sections of the country in the political process and the administration of Iraq as the main factors in maintaining the stability of the country.
He noted that the Kurdish region, as always, is a factor of stability in Iraq and seeks to expand its relations with neighboring countries, adding that based on the principle of mutual respect and common interests, it has strong relations with Iran and Turkey, especially in terms of economy and trade.
Referring to the danger of the return of the ISIS, The head of the Kurdistan Region called for continued international support for Iraq and the region, as well as cooperation and coordination between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army to combat terrorism and ISIS, especially in the disputed areas announced in Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution.
Strategic talks between Iraq and the United States and Barzani's recent visit to Ankara were also on the agenda in the meeting.
