<p style="text-align:left">Shia cleric and political leader Muqtada al-Sadr on Friday, September 18, warned Iraqi and Israeli leaders about attempting to pursue formal relations, following warming ties between Israel and several Gulf countries.

&ldquo; From Abdullah Muqtada al-Sadr to the enemy of God Benjamin Netanyahu. I warn you against coming to the country of the infallible, Iraq, and you should not think about opening an embassy in Iraq,&rdquo; Sadr said during his Friday sermon according to his media office.
&ldquo; It will be your end,&rdquo; he added.
He also criticized the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain for normalizing their ties with Israel in deals brokered by the United States.
&ldquo;Normalization is a humiliation…Palestine is alive in our consciences,&rdquo; Sadr said.
Iraq once had a large Jewish population, but few have remained in the country.
Many Iraqi Jews left for Israel, where they constitute a significant community.
