Answering a Kurdpress question about the Afghanistan scenario in Syrian Kurdistan and the withdrawal of US from Syria, Hussein Masto, a member of the political bureau of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party (Al-Parti), called the US a snake which is very untrustworthy and having an unknown policy.
He continued: "The United States is stepping back and leaving wherever its interests end, so it cannot be trusted."
"The Syrian Kurdistan will face a worse situation in comparison to Afghanistan, if the US withdraws from the region as it is not only Turkey but also the central government and other groups that will provide an opportunity to attack the region," Mr. Masto said.
The Kurdish politician further stressed that: "However, as long as the United States feels it has an interest in Syrian Kurdistan, it will not leave it."
"I think it is still late and the Kurds should have reached an agreement with Damascus on the Kurdish issue in Syria," the official had told Kurdpress earlier in the day.
Mr. Masto continued: "The Kurds in Syria had the opportunity in 2011 to negotiate with the government about the situation in Kurdistan, but they did not take advantage of it. The issue of the Kurds in Syria passes through Damascus."
He went on to add: "The establishment of any political system in northern and eastern Syria, from federalism to autonomy and any other type, will be resolved through negotiations with Damascus, and this will only be possible by creating conditions for negotiations between the two sides."
