HPG says it notified KDP- affiliated Peshmerga fighters not to approach

The Press Center of People's Defense Forces (HPG) said on Wednesday, November 4, that their forces previously warned a Peshmerga force affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) not to approach one of their camps in Gara mountain in Duhok’s Chamanke sub-district.

HPG, which is the military wing of the PKK, said in a statement,"Today around 11 am, KDP forces have started an operation against the Gare region from Chamanke sub-district. Despite our warnings, they tried to enter our camp in the surroundings of the Bebade village with armored vehicles. Our forces did not fight and did not use any weapons despite this attempted attack,” according to a statement by HPG issued by PKK-affiliated ANF news agency.
Four Peshmerga members were wounded and another succumbed to death on way to hospital in two separate bomb blasts in the peripheries of Duhok’s Chamanke sub-district.
“Despite our warnings, the advance into our camp continued, intervention was made against the armored hummers. The detonation of two mines located here was intended to prevent further advance,” read the statement. “Our guerilla forces will never be the attacking side. We want to avoid fighting for the national interests of the people of Kurdistan, we openly announce this," the statement further noted.
The PKK affiliate called on the KDP to stop its operations against their camps, according to the statement. “It should be generally known that our guerrilla forces will defend themselves in the scope of legitimate self-defense if the attacks continue.”
The PKK recently accused the KDP of military build-ups in the vicinity of its outposts in Gara and Metina areas of Duhok’s Amedi district, while KDP-affiliated security forces blamed the PKK for the recent murder of a border official near Amedi.
In recent weeks, the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) said in a statement that it exploded the Kurdistan Region’s oil pipeline in Turkey.
“Our forces carried out a successful sabotage action targeting Botaş Oil Pipeline passing through Bagok region of Mardin at 13:00 on October 28. As a result of this action, the pipeline at the site was completely destroyed,” it said.
On October 31, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) condemned what was called a “terrorist attack” that targeted a pipeline transporting its oil exports. The statement did not directly attribute responsibility for the attack.
