Anti-ISIS coalition welcomes organization of Kurdistan Region armed forces

The coalition against ISIS led by the United States considered the annex of the First and Second Infantry Divisions from among the forces affiliated to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and their addition to the Ministry of Peshmerga as a part of the reform plan in the armed forces of the Kurdistan Region and welcomed it.

Yesterday, the joining ceremony of the First and Second Infantry Divisions of the Peshmerga Forces to the Ministry of Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region was held in the presence of Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region.
The US-led coalition to fight ISIS, which is in charge of training and equipping a part of the armed forces of the Kurdistan Region, considered the move to be a part of the implementation of the reform program in the Ministry of Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The coalition has described the addition of two infantry divisions from the forces affiliated to the two parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party, to the Ministry of Peshmerga as a vital step by the Ministry of Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region to organize the armed forces of this region. The coalition has also considered this action as a sign of the Kurdistan region's commitment and effort to create efficient forces to ensure the security of the region. In its Twitter statement, the coalition emphasized on continuing its commitment in training and empowering the Peshmerga forces of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Also, Jane's Defence Weekly wrote one of the security weaknesses of the Kurdistan Region is the existence of two armed forces affiliated to the two parties of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the former of which is responsible for protecting the western part and the latter for the protection of the eastern part of the Kurdistan Region.
According to the report by the weekly magazine, the command of the first and second infantry divisions of the Ministry of Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region was previously in the hands of the two ruling parties, and during this ceremony, the command of these forces was handed over to the Ministry of Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region.
