Nechirvan Barzani, Iraj Masjedi discuss strengthening ties between Iran and Kurdistan Region

During a meeting between the Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and the Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, ways to expand bilateral ties between Iran and the Kurdistan Regionegion were discussed.

According to the official website of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjidi, who traveled to Erbil, met with Nachirvan Barzani on Tuesday, December 21.
Relations between Iran and the Kurdistan Region and strategies for expanding these relations and bilateral cooperation were among the most important issues discussed in this meeting.
Barzani and Masjidi also traded views on the latest developments in the Iraqi political process, efforts to form a new government, the continuation of talks to resolve issues between Erbil and Baghdad, assassination threats and the recent ISIS attacks in Iraq.
The two sides also stressed on the importance of trying to maintain stability and security in the region and strengthening ties between the countries of the region based on good neighborliness and common interests, and in particular the expansion of relations between Iran and the Kurdish region.
