Analyst says US government does not welcome Kurdish-Kurdish talks

Hiwa Osman says that since the beginning of Joe Biden's government, there has been a kind of reluctance in this government towards Kurdish-Kurdish talks in Iraq and Syria, while Washington can help resolve the differences between the Kurds.

In an interview with Al-Monitor, Kurdish affairs analyst Hiwa Osman said there is a kind of reluctance in US government in backing Kurdish-Kurdish talks in Iraq and Syria.

He believes Americans have been passive in the past few months regarding the Kurdish-Kurdish talks between the two Kurdish factions in Syria, as well as between the Kurdistan Region and the Kurdish Autonomous Administration in northern Syria, and this has intensified differences between the Kurds.

The Kurdish affairs analyst noted that the US reluctance to address the Kurdish issue in Syria could be a sign of preparing the ground for the withdrawal of US troops from the region and handing it over to Turkey, a reminder of the US re-betrayal of the Syrian Kurds.

Referring to the closure of the only border crossing between the Kurdistan Region and the Kurdish Autonomous Administration in northern Syria and its impact on people's lives in northeastern Syria, Mr. Osman, stated that the removal of the differences between the Kurdistan Region and the Kurdish Autonomous Administration in northern Syria is effective in improving the economic situation in the Syrian Kurdish regions

He also stressed that only the United States could help resolve these differences, but apparently the new US administration, as in the past, is reluctant to mediate between the Kurdish different movements.
