Nechirvan Barzani meets British envoy to Iraq

The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson-Richardson, and his delegation on Tuesday, February 15, for talks on the political process in Iraq and the Region and the need for international support.

According to NRT Barzani said the Kurdistan Region will hold parliamentary elections on time and stated the Region’s constitution should have unanimous approval, as well as coordination with the Iraqi federal government, according to a statement from the presidency.

The meeting also covered strengthening Iraq and the Kurdistan Region’s relations with the UK and neighboring countries, developments in the Iraqi Parliament, and the need for international support for the political process in Iraq.

Bryson-Richardson also meet with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leader Masoud Barzani on Tuesday, according to the party’s official media. The meeting centered on reform in the Peshmerga Ministry and cooperation between Kurdish and Iraqi forces.
