"We exchanged views on peace, regional security, bilateral ties and political developments in Iraq and the wider region,” Barzani said in a statement posted to Twitter.
The meeting centered on expanding the fields of trade and commerce and strengthening ties between Iraq and the Region, according to a statement from the Region’s presidency.
Discussions also covered the latest developments in the wider region, the war on terror and the security challenges. Both sides agreed on the importance of collective and international efforts to preserve peace and stability.
Ankara and Erbil agreed on the need to overcome the political stalemate in Baghdad and form an Iraqi government representing all communities.
Barzani also said Erbil was prepared to come to a resolution on issues with Baghdad "on the basis of the constitution.”
Meanwhile Barzani commended Turkey's role in alleviating the tension between Russia and Ukraine, hoping that diplomacy manages to bring closure to both countries.
President Barzani's remarks came during a meeting he held with the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlut Cavusoglu, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum earlier Saturday.
A readout issued by the region's presidency said that Barzani and Cavusoglu the situation in Iraq, the ties of Baghdad and Erbil with Ankara, and the latest updates on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Turkey's top diplomat thanked the President for his participation in the forum's activities, expressing his country's heed to the ties with the Kurdistan Region and the political situation in Iraq.
Barzani also commended Turkey's endeavors to bring together Ukraine and Russia's Ministers of Foreign Affairs, hoping that peace and security prevail in the entire world by putting an end to the crisis.
Erdogan met with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi and the head of the Azm Alliance, Khamis al-Khanjar, in Istanbul on February 26, where they reportedly discussed cooperation in security and the facilitation of visas for Iraqis in a closed-door meeting along with the head of Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization, Hakan Fidan.
The Turkish president met with Barzani in Ankara on February 2 where they discussed trade and economic relations, as well as the political situation.
