On December 24, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Interior said it was imposing a three-week ban on tourist travel to and from eight countries, including Iran, at the Region’s land and air ports of entry. According to the order, it began on Friday at midnight.
General Director of Mariwan Bashmakh Customs in Iranian Kurdistan Farid Haghpanah told IRNA news agency on Saturday that the all types of travel continued to flow despite the order.
He added, however, that travelers should carry a recent negative coronavirus test result with them.
Bashmakh is one of the busiest border crossings between the Kurdistan Region and Iran, connecting Sulaimani governorate with its eastern neighbor.
