U.S. removes YPG from terrorist organization list

<p style="text-align: left;">The U.S. State Department has omitted the Peoples&amp;rsquo; Protection Units

(YPG) from its 2017 Country Reports on Terrorism, which was released on Wednesday.

The previous edition of the report noted that Turkey views the YPG as an extension of the PKK.

The report gave credit to Turkey's continuous efforts to defeat terrorist organizations both inside and outside its borders, including the PKK and the Islamic State (IS).

The report has mentioned Turkey Operation Euphrates Shield, which was launched against the IS and the YPG in northern Syria, the report did not recognize the YPG as a terrorist organization.

Other than the PKK and the IS, the report mentions the Gulenist Terror Group (FETO) as another terrorist organization that Turkey fights against.
