According to NRT Turkish artillery fired around 50 shells at Besta village in the Amedi district on Sunday, October 7.
The Turkish bombardment frightened the villagers, many who grow produce or herd livestock, and made them fear for their safety and livelihoods.
The area has been bombed by Turkish warplanes in the past and the shelling damaged agriculture in the area.
Turkish warplanes and artillery intermittently shell villages in the Kurdistan Region over suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in those areas.
Units of the Turkish army have entered 30 kilometers into the Kurdistan Region and it has also created a number of military bases inside the Region, according to local authorities.
The three-decade armed struggle by the PKK against the Turkish government flared up again in 2015 after the collapse of a two-year ceasefire and settlement process.
