YPG is PKK offshoot: US envoy

<p style="text-align:left">The U.S. envoy to Syria affairs believes the Syrian Kurdish forces of People Protection Units (YPG) are affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) which has been at war with Turkey for years.

According to Science Defense One, James Jeffery stated at a conference that the YPG is an offshoot of the PKK.
He further added all groups in Syria are offshots of the PKK.
This is for the first time that a U.S. official confrms there are ties between Syrian Kurds and the PKK.
The US official didnot state that the affiliation between the Syrian Kurdish groups and the PKK would impact Washington financial aids to the group.
The Washington administration last week put a bounty on three senior leaders of the PKK, Cemil Bayik, Murat Karayilan and Duran Kalkan.
