Iran, Iraq renew border deal

<p style="text-align: left;">The Iranian and Iraqi border guard forces&amp;rsquo; commanders renewed a bilateral deal to protect their mutual border on Wednesday, November 21.

The agreement covers issues such as safety, trade, the interdiction of prohibited goods, narcotics, and terrorism, NRT reported.

Iraqi officials in Sulaimani, Kurdistan Region, stated that no additional sections were added despite the reimposition of sanctions on Iran.

&ldquo; We have had intensive discussions over the last two days about the protection of the border and we want to jointly manage the duty of protecting it,&rdquo; said the commander of Iranian guard forces in Sina, the capital of the Iranian north western province of Kurdistan.

The procedures were fist agreed to in July 2003 and must be renewed every six months.
