The Spokesperson of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Mahmood Mohammed, said on Friday, September 9, the KDP agrees on early elections to the Iraqi parliament with the condition that all parties ensure they will accept the results.

Mohammed said if Iraq's political parties do not accept the election results, nothing in the country's political situation will change.
The spokesperson stated the political status in Iraq started to veer in the wrong direction when the blocs in parliament were unable to elect a prime minister and the situation began to head towards the direction of violence and armed conflict.
The Sadrist Movement and its leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, have demanded the dissolution of parliament and pre-parliamentary elections, backed by mass protest from the movement's followers.
Iraq's Federal Supreme Court ruled on September 7 that it cannot dissolve parliament.
