US reiterates on reforms in Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga Ministry

The US Department of Defense stated that one of the main topics in the talks between the US Secretary of Defense and the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq was to emphasize on continuing the reform process in the armed forces of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The US Department of Defense issued a statement after the meeting between US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Kurdistan Regional President Nechirvan Barzani and other officials of the region.
In this statement, the two sides stressed on continued partnership of America with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the provision of stability and security of this region as a part of the federal Iraq.
In a statement from the US Defense Minister, the Pentagon described the participation of the Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga forces in the joint fight against ISIS as a heroic contribution to this campaign and praised them.
In his meeting with Nechirvan Barzani, the American Defense Minister also emphasized on the importance of the Peshmerga ministry commitments to advance the process of reforming the forces of the Kurdistan Region in order to turn it into a professional force.
According to this statement, Lloyd Austin and Masoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iraq, traded views on the disputes between Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
