The demonstrators were angry that the checkpoint had been closed for a third time, making travel difficult and unpredictable.
According to NRT the protesters have set up tents near the border.
The commander of Iraqi Army’s Brigade 15 said yesterday that the unit would reopen the crossing, but it remains shuttered.
“The head of Nineveh operations Najmadin Jaburi was supposed to visit the checkpoint and officially reopen it to the public,” he added, but that visit has not yet happened.
The Bare checkpoint has been shut down for a week now.
