Authorities in Erbil are under pressure to adhere to US sanctions on Iran: representative

<p style="text-align: left;">Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) representative to Iran Nazim Dabagh said on Saturday, January 19, that the Region&amp;rsquo;s authorities are under pressure to adhere to US sanctions on Iran.

Speaking about the broad situation, Dabagh said that will Baghdad take its national interests into account in the face of tensions between the US and Iran, saying that it takes its regional security role seriously, according to an interview with Euro News agency.

&ldquo;Iraq will not let attacks to be made against Iran from inside its borders,&rdquo; Dabagh said.

According to NRT he further stated that the authorities in Erbil are under pressure to adhere to US' reimposed sanctions.

&ldquo;There are obvious verbal and practical pressures, but the Kurdistan Region and Iraq [balance] their interests with Iran and [the fact] that the powers and capacities of such countries like US and UK are limited and cannot carry out whatever they want at any time,&rdquo; Nazim Dabagh said.

The Iranian foreign affairs minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, accompanied by a trade delegation, visited Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region last week.
