Turkey jets destroy mosque in Kurdistan Region

<p style="text-align:left">Turkish warplanes on Monday, April 29, bombed Kani Mazi village in the Chamaki sub-district of Amedi district in Kurdistan Region, destroying the local mosque.

According to NRT the totality of the damage from the airstrike was still being assessed, but that the bombing had frightened local residents and disrupted agricultural activities in the area.
The village had been evacuated.
Turkey routinely bombs targets in the Kurdistan Region in an effort to combat the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
The bombing occurred a day after the Turkish foreign minister&rsquo; Mevlut Cavusoglu arrived in the Kurdistan Region for meetings with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani and other officials.
Cavusoglu also travelled to Baghdad and Basra earlier on Sunday.
During his visit to the former, Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim said that Iraq prohibits the use of its territory to plan and execute attacks against Turkey, in reference to the PKK&rsquo;s activities in Iraq.
