Pompeo reiterated his country’s support for Kurdistan Region and encourage Erbil and Baghdad to work closer and address the remaining disputes between the regional and central governments, BasNews reported.
Barzani thanked the US for continued support to Kurdistan Region, and pointed out that Erbil has always believed in peaceful dialogues as the best mean to resolve differences with Baghdad.
Nechirvan Barzani, who currently serves as the prime minister of Kurdistan Region, was elected the president last Tuesday. His inauguration is scheduled for 10th June.
