Iraq to cancel investigation against those who participated in Kurdistan referendum

A Kurdish member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense committee, Shakhwan Abdullah confirmed on Tuesday the approval of Interior Minister, Qasim al-Araji, to cancel the special investigative council against those who participated in the independence referendum of Kurdistan Region on October 2017.

In a publication posted on his Facebook page, January 9, Abdullah wrote that Interior Minister Qassim al-Araji had agreed in writing to his request to cancel the investigations against those who participated in the Kurdistan independence referendum, NRT reported.

The Interior Minister has also agreed to release the suspended salaries of these associates from Kirkuk province police and Tuz Khurmato district.

Abdullah highlight the approval of the Minister of Interior to also return all members of the border police, who were transferred earlier to the areas of southern Iraq, back to Kurdistan and to Kirkuk.
