Barzani and Abadi discussed the issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad including a ban on the region’s airports, KRG spokesman Safin Dizayee said.

“There was a serious discussion between KRG prime minister and Iraqi prime minister by telephone last week,” he told reporters.

According to NRT Dizayee said Barzani also hoped Abadi would send the salaries of the KRG’s public servants and would also lift the ban on Erbil and Sulaimani International Airports before Newruz as Abadi said on Tuesday.

Abadi said Baghdad would pay salaries of Kurdish public servants from a number of ministries before Newruz and that the ban on the airports would be lifted in a near future.

Dizayee said the remarks of the Iraqi prime minister were a result of the telephone call with the Kurdish premier.
