Iraq expresses concern over strikes on Syria

<p style="text-align: left;">The Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Saturday, April 14, warned of &amp;ldquo;dangerous consequences&amp;rdquo; in the aftermath of airstrikes carried out by the United States, France and Britain against Syrian military targets.

The air strikes are a &ldquo;very dangerous development&rdquo; that could give terrorism an opportunity to expand in the region, the ministry said in a statement.

&ldquo;Such action could have dangerous consequences, threatening the security and stability of the region and giving terrorism another opportunity to expand after it was ousted from Iraq and forced into Syria to retreat to a large extent,&rdquo; it stated.

The ministry called on Arab leaders to hold a summit and discuss the situation in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

In an address to the nation US President Donald Trump announced that the US, France, and the UK had launched strikes against Syria.

U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis told reporters there were no reports of losses in the operation, saying "Right now, this is a one-time shot, and I believe it has sent a very strong message."
