US sends logistical materials to northern Syria

<p style="text-align:left">The US military sent a convoy of logistical materials to northeastern Syria, Anadolu Agency reported on Sunday, December 22.

Anadolu said the convoy included 60 trucks of logistical materials and was sent to the oilfields in the provinces of Deir ez Zor and Hasakah on Saturday night.
The convoy was sent through Al Waleed border crossing between Iraq and Syria, according to Anadolu Agency.
A US military convoy entered Syria in October through the Kurdistan Region&rsquo;s Semelka border crossing.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the convoy included a number of military and logistical vehicles and is expected to deploy to a military base in Deir ez-Zor.
US Defense Secretary Mark Esper said the US would strengthen its military presence in Syria to prevent Islamic State fighters from accessing local oil fields and their revenue, despite earlier indications that it would withdraw fully from the area.
