KRG PM discusses religious tolerance in Kurdistan with Vatican official

<p style="text-align:left">Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Masrour Barzani, on Tuesday visited Vatican where he met with Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.

Barzani and Parolin discussed the importance of tolerance and understanding both between and within different faiths, the Kurdish leader wrote on Twitter after the meeting.
&ldquo;Religious tolerance is one of Kurdistan&rsquo;s great strengths – we must do all we can to preserve it,&rdquo; he added.
Barzani and his counterpart in Vatican also discussed the large number of religious minorities who have fled their homes in Iraq and Syria to seek shelter in Kurdistan Region, reiterating Kurdistan&rsquo;s commitment to protect and help the refugees and IDPs.
According to BasNews Parolin reiterated Vatican&rsquo;s support and said he looks forward to further foster ties with Erbil, describing the Kurdistan Region as a good example of religious tolerance in the region where people with different faiths are protected.
Kurdistan Region prime minister met with his Italian counterpart Giuseppe Conte earlier the day where he discussed economic ties and ways to increase investment and security cooperations.
