Since 2014, the U.S. has sent military aids and troops to northern Syria to back the Kurdish forces in fight against the IS. However, Washington did not take any step against the Turkish invasion of the Kurds in 2018 and 2019. Instead, it laid the groundwork for the second Turkish offensive against the Kurds in October 2019, when Washington pulled its forces from northern Syria.
In a detailed report on America's position in the Middle East's endless wars, the National Interest magazine described in a report on March 22 that the US interference in Syria is useless as, according to the report, the United States will be forced to leave Syria sooner or later, while it has spent millions of dollars in the country.
Recalling the U.S. silence on the Turkish attack against the Kurds, the magazine wrote: Why should the United States spend millions of dollars in Syria? But keep silent when Turkey invaded its ally, which led to the killing and massacre of Kurds?
The National Interest stated that there are only a few hundred US troops in Kurdish-controlled areas of Syria, warning that Syria is attempting to take the control of all regions of the country, even where there are many US forces in the war-torn country. The United States will be forced to leave sooner or later.
The U.S. magazine has offered the Trump government to withdraw its forces from the Kurdish-controlled areas before another war breaks out in northern Syria.
