The deputy chairman of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) faction in the Iraqi parliament stressed that the party would not allow the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) to take over the presidency of Iraq.
A senior member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) stressed that no agreement has been made between his party and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), and if an agreement is made, it will be in the interest of Barham Saleh, the current Iraqi president and PUK candidate for the post.
A former Kurdish member of the Iraqi parliament predicted that current Iraqi President Barham Saleh could become president again, pointing out that a number of recent factors, especially the nomination of a new candidate by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) for the Iraqi presidency, are in favor of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) to which Saleh is a senior member.
