National Security Council coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk has worked closely with the Turks for many years on a range of knotty issues, and the growls from Ankara suggest that Turkey continues to pin US policies that it doesn’t like on "rogue" individuals.
The leader of Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (KDP.S) said: "Political and diplomatic delegations from different countries come to Syrian Kurdistan, but so far they have not acknowledged the existence of the self-ruling system and have not commented on it, and we hope that this issue will change in Biden (US President-elect Joe Biden) time."
