    World Service-Despite the fact that more than a year has passed since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime and the return of millions of Syrians to their country, most Kurdish refugees living in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq are still unwilling to return to northeastern Syria; they consider insecurity, economic crisis, the uncertain future of the Damascus agreement and the Syrian Democratic Forces, and the established life in the Kurdistan Region as the most important reasons for this decision.

    World Service- Despite an agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces for the return of displaced people, thousands of Kurds who were driven out of Serikani during the Turkish military operation in 2019 are still living in camps and say the presence of Ankara-backed armed forces in their homes has made it impossible to return.
