Syria Service - The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that at least 287 people died in different areas of Syria in May 2026, 15 of whom were women. This institution considered the continuation of insecurity, the activity of armed groups and the proliferation of weapons as the main causes of human casualties in this country.
World Service - The Women's Protection Units (YPJ), the women's military force of the Syrian Kurds, have announced that they will continue to operate as an independent structure in response to the recent agreement between the Damascus government and the Kurdish forces. This position takes place in the situation that the central government of Syria wants the full integration of local forces in the national army.
