Russia declares readiness to facilitate Kurdish-Damascus talks

Russian foreign minister has said that Moscow is ready to facilitate talks between the Kurds and the Syrian central government.

According to Russia's Tass news agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was ready to help facilitate talks between the Syrian Kurds and the central government, only if both sides should take a cohesive position.

Russia's foreign minister has accused the United States of leading a significant number of Syrian Kurds to secession.

Lavrov expressed hope that the Kurds, who are interested in normalizing relations with the Syrian central government, would understand the current provocations (Taliban secession by the United States) and the danger that they pose.

The Russia top foreign relations official added that throughout the Syrian crisis, especially after the arrival of Russian troops in Syria at the invitation of the central government, Russia has encouraged the Kurds to have direct relations with Damascus so that they can discuss how to live together in the country and also how to negotiate.
