According to Xalk news website, the KDP delegation headed by Ali Hussein, the party's internal affairs chief, met with officials in the PUK office in Erbil on Monday, June 12.
Ali Hussein announced that the party has expressed its congratulations to the PUK on the occasion of its 45th anniversary of its establishment, and presented the KDP message of friendship, brotherhood and solidarity to the PUK office officials.
He also said that the meeting with officials of the PUK in Erbil discussed the developments in the Kurdish region and the necessity of reconciliation and harmony among the parties in the region.
It is worth mentioning that the KDP political office sent a congratulatory message, on Sunday, to the PUK on the occasion of the forty-fifth year of its establishment.
Nechirvan Barzani, the head of the Kurdistan Region, and the deputy leader of the KDP, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and a senior member of the party's political office, in separate messages, congratulated the PUK anniversary and stressed on the need to create and maintain unity among the political parties of the region, the PUK and KDP in particular.
Relations between the two parties have been strained over the past months, with the two sides traded media attacks against each other, leading to tensions in the Kurdish Parliament and halting its meetings.
Meanwhile, the KDP and PUK efforts in recent weeks to hold meetings and resolve disputes have led into no avail. However, officials from the two parties have announced their decision to hold the summit.
