Ben Wallace described the role of Syrian Kurds in fighting against the Islamic State (IS) as important in a parliament meeting discussing the anti-IS alliance campaign.
Some of the Kurds are our allies and have helped us. We need to help them, too, he stated at the meeting.
The British Defense Minister pointed to Turkish military operations against Kurds, saying that Britain supports some parts of Turkey attempts, including operation against the PKK and understands Turkey's security concerns, but where the issue is not related to terrorism, we have stressed that in Syria, Kurds are part of stabilizing the country and that the stability in the country prevents the increase in the number of displaced people.
Ben Wallace said: some Kurds were Britain allies and have helped the country. Therefore, England should also help them.
The British defense minister also stressed his support for negotiations between Iraqi Kurds and the central government to resolve differences.
Ben Wallace stressed that Britain should work with both Turkey and the Kurdish forces to help each other and understand the need to work together to maintain common interests, including fighting IS and al-Qaeda.
He added: Syrian Kurdish-Arab forces have sacrificed a lot in the fight against IS, and Britain is grateful for that.
