Iraqi Parliament Speaker thanks Sadr leader for returning to elections

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad al-Halbousi praised Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadr Movement, for his decision to return to the electoral contest set for September.

According to the Dicle TV website, Mohammad Halbousi tweeted "in crises, the patriotic positions of officials and leaders will be determined. We appreciate the decision of Mr. Seyyed Muqtada al-Sadr to participate in the elections.

Halbousi also added: "We appreciate all the political forces that have helped advancing the election process, and we hope that this election will show the will of the people and take the affairs of the country to the shores of security."

It is worth mentioning that Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadr Movement, announced his return to the lections process on Friday evening, reconsidering his previous decision to boycott the polls, and stressed that his movement will participate in the upcoming elections.
