Masrour Barzani, EU envoy discuss Iraq parliamentary elections

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the Special Representative of the European Union, Fiola von Cramon, discussed in a meeting on Friday, September 17, the issue of monitoring the parliamentary elections in Iraq.

According to Kurdistan 24 TV, Masrour Barzani, met with EU Special Representative Viola von Cramon to discuss the ways to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq.

According to reports, the meeting discussed the issue of monitoring the early parliamentary elections in Iraq, planned to be held on October 10, and Cramon stressed that the European Union's role in these elections is only monitoring and it does not interfere in the election process.

Barzani also praised the role of the European Union in monitoring the election process, and expressed hope that the Iraqi parliamentary elections would be peaceful and fair, especially in the disputed areas between Erbil and Baghdad, and also free from fraud and violence.

He announced the full readiness of the institutions of the Kurdistan Regional Government for any cooperation with the EU delegation in this regard.
