According to Kurdpress, Abdullah Ocalan, the leader of the PKK unit, released a message on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of February, stating that it is necessary to pass from the negative stage to the positive constructive stage, saying: "The transition to democratic integration makes the laws of peace necessary."
People's Equality and Democracy Party (Dem Party) and the leadership board of this party published a new statement on the occasion of the first anniversary of the "call for peace and democratic society" by Abdullah Ocalan, a politician in the Kurdish region. Abdullah Ocalan's new message about the current process was read in a ceremony held at Yilmaz Goni Hall in Ankara.
This message was published in Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic and English languages. The Kurdish version was read by Visy Aktash and the Turkish version by Parvin Boldan.
Abdullah Ojalan's message is as follows:
Declaration of mental reconciliation with the Republic of Türkiye
"Our call on February 27, 2025, is a statement that where democratic politics is practiced, weapons become meaningless and a clear declaration of the choice that the preference has been made for the benefit of politics; This is a principled generality. We passed the period of negative struggle essentially by unilateral will and action. The process we have gone through has proven our ability to negotiate and our power to transition from the politics of violence and separatism to the politics of democracy and integration. Our calls, conferences and congresses were in this direction. The decisions of the organization to dissolve and end the strategy of armed struggle, not only formally and practically, but also mentally have shown freedom from violence and political choice. It was also a declaration of mental reconciliation with the Republic.
In memory of our friend Sri Soraya
During the past year, I value the will of Mr. Erdoğan, the call of Mr. Baghce Lee, the participation of Mr. Özel, and the efforts of all political, social, and civil institutions and individuals who have contributed positively to the process. And especially once again I remember our friend Sri Soraya with great respect and longing.
The dialectic of Turk-Kord relationship
Turkey cannot exist without Kurds and Kurds cannot exist without Turks. This dialectic of relationship has a special historical feature. The fundamental texts in the process of establishing the republic expressed the unity of Turks and Kurds. Our February 27 call is an attempt to revive the spirit of this unity and demand for a democratic republic. Our goal was to break the mechanism that feeds on blood and conflict. Moving based on short-term and limited political interests instead of seeing the historicity of the issue, its seriousness and the dangers it can produce, all weaken us. Trying to perpetuate denial and rebellion is to regulate the greatest disorder. We remove the obstacles facing the brotherhood, which have been tried to be reversed in the last two centuries, and we fulfill the requirements of the rights of the brotherhood. We want to talk about how to come together and how to live together.
We must move to a positive stage
Now we have to pass from the negative stage to the positive construction stage. The door of a new era and strategy in politics is opened. Our goal is to close the period of politics based on violence and open a process based on democratic society and rights, and we invite everyone to create possibilities in this direction and accept responsibility.
The government's sensitivity to democratic change is important
Democratic society, democratic agreement and integration are the cornerstones of the mental world of the positive period. The positive phase abandons methods of struggle based on force and violence. In positive construction, the goal is not to take over any institution or structure, but to reach the responsibility of each person in the society who can play a role in social construction. The goal is to do construction together with the community and within the community. Oppressed classes, ethnic groups, religious and cultural groups can protect their achievements with a democratic, continuous and organized struggle. In this process, the government's sensitivity towards democratic transformation is important.
Democratic integration is at least as important as the beginning of the republic. It is a call that is equally rich in meaning, future and power. It is based on the democratic society model. It is an alternative to divisive methods or, on the other hand, homogenous. The transition to democratic integration necessitates peace laws. The solution of democratic society also predicts the creation of architecture and legal system in political, social, economic and cultural dimensions.
Many problems and crises today are caused by the lack of democratic rights. We base a legal solution in the framework of democratic politics. We need an approach that gives space to democratic society, gives space to democracy and creates its strong legal guarantees.
We base free citizenship
The relationship of citizenship should not be based on belonging to the nation, but on the basis of connection with the government. We base citizenship on freedom, which bases freedom in religion, nationality, and thought. Just as religion and language cannot be imposed, nationality should not be imposed either. The citizenship relationship of the constitution, which is formed in democratic frameworks and with an emphasis on the integrity of the government, includes the right to freely express and organize religious, ideological, identity and national identity.
Today, no system of thought can stand without the foundation of democracy. Ups and downs, tensions and crises are transitory; What will be stable sooner or later is democracy. Our call is not only for Türkiye, but its aim is to find a solution to the problem of coexistence in the Middle East and the crisis situation it has produced. We defend the right of existence and free expression of all the oppressed.
The role of women
Women are at the head of social forces that no society and government can sustain without considering them. Domestic violence, femicide, and today's patriarchal oppression are all current reflections of the historical assault that began with the enslavement of women. Therefore, women are the freest part and driving force of democratic integration.
Course language and common sense
The language of this period cannot be authoritarian and authoritarian. We should put the principle on giving the possibility to express ourselves correctly, to hear the other person correctly and to provide the possibility to express his correctness as well. Accomplishing all of these requires a well-developed common sense based on mutual respect.
With regards"
