Kurdish parties are responsible for ISIS'S attack on Peshmerga: politicians

Two Kurdish political figures have blamed parties in the Kurdistan Region for ISIS's Saturday terrorist attack on Peshmerga forces in the region between Diyala and Sulaimani provinces.

"The recent ISIS attack on Peshmerga forces in Kulajo sub-district, in the area between Diyala and Sulaimani, resulted in a real crime, killing five Peshmerga forces and injuring three others, including an officer," said Ahmad Arkawazi, according to Al-Ma'loumeh.

The attack has been exceptional in the recent months.

Arkawazi added: "The ruling parties in the Kurdistan Region, which ignore security threats and focus on gaining power and struggle for dominance - and we now see an example of this situation in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) - are responsible in this regard."

Haqi Delvi, an independent politician, said: "The crime of Kulajo requires a firm stance of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on the security situation, especially since the attack took place in an area that is administratively subordinate to Sulaimani province and is near the administrative borders of Diyala province."

Delvi added: "Political conflicts between the ruling parties in the Kurdistan Region and widespread corruption in the Erbil governing body have weakened the security situation and created gaps that are being exploited by terrorists to alternately use it to shed blood."
