Sadrist Movement MPs deliver their resignations to Iraq Parliament Speaker

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi accepted the letters of resignation from all 73 MPs from the Sadrist Movement on Sunday, June 12, days after the leader of the bloc, Muqtada al-Sadr, requested the ministers to prepare to resign.

Sadr called on MPs from the movement to present on Sunday their letters of resignation to the leader of the Sadrist Movement’s bloc in the Iraqi parliament, Hassan al-Azari. He also thanked the components of his Saving the Homeland alliance in parliament for their work in the movement and for the sake of the country.
Sadr said in a speech on Thursday the movement will not participate in forming a corrupt and biased government and asked for the party’s MPs to prepare their letters of resignation.
