Two weeks ago, an attack by a French gunman on the Kurdish cultural center in the French capital, which is run by Turkey Kurds, resulted in the death of three Kurdish citizens. This incident was reminiscent of the attack of a Turkish citizen on the Kurdish cultural center in the same city 10 years ago. In that attack, three prominent Kurd activists were killed.
Turkey's all-out campaign against the Kurds, especially Ankara's incessant attacks against the Kurds in Iraq and Syria in the last few years, raised the hypothesis that Turkey may have started to confront or, more clearly, physically eliminate the Kurds at the European level. Of course, it should be noted that Turkey strongly opposes the activities of Syrian Kurdish activists at the European level, and the case is clear by Turkey's blocking of Sweden and Finland joining NATO due to the widespread activities of Kurds living in these two countries this year.
Fabrice Balanche, a French researcher on Middle East, Kurdish and Syrian issues at the University of Lyon, France, told Kurdpress about the possible connection between the recent murder of three Kurdish activists in Paris and Turkey's campaign against the Kurds in Iraq and Syria.
Reacting to the possible connection between the recent murders of Kurds in France and Turkey's campaign against the Kurds, Fabrice Balanche told the Kurdpress news agency: "I don't think there is any tie between the attacks on the Kurds in Paris and what President Erdogan is doing against the Kurds in Iraq and Syria. There is a connection."
He said about the attack of a French citizen on Ahmed Kaya Kurdish cultural center, run by the Kurds in Paris that the victims could have been Turks or Arabs.
The French Lyon University professor emphasized that this French citizen did not want to target the Kurds, but only wanted to target foreigners.
