Local media reports said the soldier was severely injured and he succumbed to his wounds later at a hospital, BasNews reported.

Turkish military in a statement by Hakkari governor confirmed the report.

Turkey and PKK are in armed conflict for more than 30 decades over the right of Kurds in Turkey.

They enjoyed a two-year ceasefire before it collapsed in July 2015.
