Syrian army settled in Afrin week ago, Russian diplomat

Russian Today quoted a top official of the country as saying that Syrian forces have been settled in the northern Kurdish town of Afrin since a week ago.

The Russian top diplomat has told Russian Today that, regardless of the possibility of reaching any agreement with the Kurdish forces of Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG), the forces have been settled in the town.

Units from the Syrian army entered Afrin a week ago, the source further added.

The report comes days after media reports quoted Rizan Hedo, the media advisor of the YPG, as saying that the Kurdish forces would deliver the control of the town to the Syrian army.

Other reports, however, stated that the Kurds and the Syrian army have not reached a deal over the delivery, yet.
