KDP election boycott has weakened PUK: official

<p style="text-align: left;">A leading member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) says the boycott of parliamentary elections in the province of Kirkuk by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has weakened the PUK.

According to London-based al-Hayat daily, Lahor Sheikh Jangi accused, at a press conference, the KDP of weakening the PUK status in Kikruk, vowing that he would fight to control the disputed region in Iraq which both Baghdad and Erbil claim jurisdiction over.

The KDP has boycotted election in Kirkuk and has called the province an occupied region after Iraqi forces took the control of the province on October 16 and forces Kurdish forces of Peshmerga from the province.
