During her stay in the Kurdistan Region, Kramp-Karrenbauer is expected to hold meetings with the senior Kurdish officials.
She will also pay a visit to the German forces who are based in Erbil for the purpose of giving military training and advice to the Peshmerga forces.
The German minister earlier yesterday arrived in Iraqi capital Baghdad and met with Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi.
Germany, as part of the US-led coalition, has been assisting the Peshmerga fighters in the war against the Islamic State (IS) in the past few years.
