The meeting focused on strengthening the relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region with the United States, oil sector, and the situation in the disputed areas, the region’s presidency said in a statement.
According to a statement released on the website of the region’s presidency office McFeeters reiterated his country’s commitment to work closely with the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region on a number of issues, including eradicating terrorism, securing peace and stability, and facilitating cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad.
“President Barzani stressed on the importance of resolving outstanding issues in accordance with the Iraqi constitution, and stated that there have been positive developments, as delegations and committees continue to meet to reach an agreement,” the statement added.
The U.S. Consul-General in the Kurdistan Region, Steven Fagin, also attended the meeting.
