US must prevent new Turkish attacks on Syrian Kurds: institute

<p style="text-align: left;">The Middle East Institute says that the U.S. military presence in northern Syria should focus on preventing Turkey from attacking Kurds again.

In an analysis on the situation in Syria, the Middle East Institute reported that the presence of the American military forces and its western allies in northeast Syria must have two goals, one of which is to control and restrict the Kurdish forces in the war-torn crisis.

It also advised Western countries, including the United States, to ensure the security of Syrian Kurds and prevent Turkey from attacking them again.

The institute also called for an agreement between the United States and Turkey to protect Kurds residing in Afrin, western Syria.

Middle East Institute further stated that the best way to prevent the return of tensions and fighting in northern Syria between the Kurds and Turkey is to deploy UN forces to the region.
