France will continue its support to Kurdistan Region and Peshmerga forces

<p style="text-align:left">French Minister of Defense, Florence Barly, emphasized in a meeting with the Kurdistan Region prime minister, that his country's continues its support for the Kurdish region and the Peshmerga forces, especially in the fight against the Islamic State (IS).

According to Zaman news website, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, met with the French Minister of Defense, Florence Barly, on Thursday evening, August 27, in Erbil that capital of Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting, Barzani pointed to France's support for the region, especially in the fight against the IS, noting that the IS has resumed its attacks and threats in many parts of Iraq and has become a serious threat to the people of those areas.
The premier of the Kurdistan Region also stressed on the importance of maintaining security coordination between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army in the face of the IS threats.
During the meeting, Florence Barly stressed on her country's continued support for the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga forces, and expressed hope that the process of military training of the international anti-IS coalition to the Peshmerga forces in the region, which has been suspended due to coronavirus crisis, would resume soon.
The two sides also considered it necessary to expand bilateral economic cooperation in parallel with military and security coordination. Earlier on the day, Barly also met with Kurdistan Regional Government President Nechirvan Barzani.
In Baghdad, she also met with senior Iraqi government officials, including President Barham Salih, Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
