The two Russian researchers believe that the Kurds play an important role in the present and future of Syria, but it is not clear yet what will happen to them.
Daniela Krylov, a researcher at the Russian Center for Oriental Studies, told the Izvestia magazine that the Kurds play an important role in the future of Syria, but almost none of the main actors in Syria agree that the Kurds should be given an independent territory.
He stressed, however, that Russia is aware of the Kurds' important role and is working to prevent separatist efforts among the Kurds, and to make their engagement with the Syrian central government.
Krylov stressed that the Kurds' relationship with the United States is transparent; America has betrayed them many times.
Andrei Kortunov, director general of the Russian Council on Foreign Relations, told the magazine that it was too early to talk about the future of Syria and the fate of foundations such as the Kurds.
He stressed that given that no agreement is expected between the Kurds and the Syrian government, it is unclear what will happen to them.
