According to AFP, a US State Department official warned Turkey about testing the S-400 missile defense system it bought from Russia.

"There is a big risk because Turkey is still pursuing the S400," State Department Purchasing Officer Clark Cooper told reporters.

"Of course, with the testing of this system by Turkey, the implementation of sanctions, which is an option on the table, is quite serious," he told a number of reporters.

The US official expressed hope that Turkey would not launch the S400 missile defense system after testing it.

Turkish officials have recently approved testing their recently bought Russian S-400 missile defense system.
