Moscow and Damascus demand SDF surrender: Mazlum Kobani

<p style="text-align: left;">In an interview with Foreign Policy magazine, the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) evaluated the actions of Damascus and Moscow as attempts to hand over the SDF forces to the Syrian Army.

"We did not accept the presence of Russian forces in our will," Mazlum Kobani told Foreign Policy, referring to recent developments in northern Syria and Russia's role in the developments.

&ldquo;Due to the withdrawal of American forces, we accepted the presence of Russian forces in the region. The main condition for accepting Russian forces in the region was coordination and communication with the SDF in its activities in the region instead of the Syrian central government. For this reason, if the Russians do not abide by the agreements made, we can confront their forces at any moment," Kobani further said.

"Russian officials either believe in their negative propaganda against the Kurds or use it as a tool for their own interests," Kobani added continuing to say that &ldquo;after the self-government did not bow to the Russians, other tricks were started. Both Putin and Bashar al-Assad demand the surrender of the SDF forces to the Syrian Arab Republic. This is the key to the Syrian central government taking control of the autonomous region. The Russians' attempt to provoke a conflict between the Kurds and the Arabs will lead to the disintegration of Syria."
